BIO
Dr. Mohammadi established the Robotic Motion Intelligence (RMI) Lab in 2018. Dr. Mohammadi's research aspires to develop algorithms with mathematically provable performance that provide robots and autonomous vehicles with motion intelligence while moving in and/or interacting with their surroundings. One of the driving insights of the RMI Lab research is rooted in Moravec's paradox, which states that ``it is comparatively easy to make computers exhibit adult level performance on intelligence tests or playing checkers, and difficult or impossible to give them the skills of a one-year-old when it comes to perception and mobility.''
Dr. Mohammadi's research lies at the intersection of robotics, cyberphysical systems, optimization, and feedback control theory. Feedback control and optimization is the cornerstone of the RMI Lab vision, which has the potential to solve many foundational and industrial problems in robotics and autonomous systems. The RMI lab research program is supported by both the U.S. federal/state agencies and industrial sponsors.
